At R.T.G (Revitalize The Ghetto), we are committed to rebuilding and empowering Oakland’s communities by working together from within. Our mission is to create thriving, self-sufficient neighborhoods by ensuring access to food, shelter, safety, education, and economic opportunities. We believe in strengthening our community by coming together to provide essential resources, support, and solutions from within. While we welcome collaboration, our focus is on building a foundation of self-reliance and resilience that empowers those we serve.

Rooted in Oakland, our team is made up of local community members whose families have lived here for generations. This deep connection inspires our work and drives us to preserve the culture and history of the city we call home. We are focused on locally-driven projects that revitalize businesses, enhance public spaces, and support families. Our initiatives include community-owned gardens, self-defense training, holistic education programs, and cooperative housing and businesses—all designed to promote unity, knowledge, and sustainability.

Our vision is to restore Oakland’s communities to their fullest potential by addressing key challenges like violence, poverty, poor health, and broken family structures. We are dedicated to creating a safe, supportive environment for all—elders, youth, and adults alike—by providing resources, promoting growth, and fostering a sense of belonging.

With a diverse team of 47 members, ranging in age from 12 to over 80, we are united in our goal to create lasting change. At R.T.G, we believe that true progress begins at home, and we are devoted to building a future where our neighborhoods are safe, vibrant, and filled with opportunity.
